OCTOBER 19 - 25, 2025 has been designated as National Respiratory Week

Respiratory Care Week originated in 1982 when President Ronald Reagan proclaimed the first National Respiratory Care Week to honor respiratory therapists. The American Association for Respiratory Care (AARC) established the event to recognize the profession, and it is now celebrated annually during the last full week of October. The week serves to thank respiratory care professionals and highlight their importance in patient care.

Registration for CEO's Annual Thanksgiving Project is open now until October 24, 2025.

CEO's Thanksgiving event is an in-person food pick-up event with three location options - Tunkhannock, Wilkes-Barre Township, and Hazleton. Participants must be Luzerne or Wyoming County residents.

Please note! Only one registration per address/unit will be accepted. If you live with another family, you MUST register together. If more than one registration is received for the same address, only the first one will be honored; any subsequent registrations will be voided.

During registration, a QR code is created. Please bring your QR code to the food distribution. In addition to this QR code, you MUST bring either photo identification or an official document or piece of mail that contains your name and address.

An update on the renovation projects taking place on the Main Campus:

Tuesday, October 14, 2025, contractors will be removing the fascia panels on the side of Building 11 closest to the Campus Center and will have egress on the sidewalk adjusted for the safety of all.

The contractors will also begin removing the fascia panels on the front of the James T. Atherton Gymnasium and entrance/exit will be through the side entrance next to Building 1.

The roof replacement for Building 3 will be wrapping up this week and the roof replacement for Building 7 will begin this week. They will place materials on the roof the late afternoon before the work for the next day throughout the approximate two (2) week project.

Ballast removal on Building 12 (loud process of sucking rocks off the roof on the Art Wing addition of the Technology Center) and the roof drain replacement within Building 7 will take place on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, while there are no students on campus and staff are attending the Professional Development Program in the Educational Conference Center.

The remaining work related to the replacement of the fascia panels, cleaning of the building 4 exterior, canopies preparation and painting, and the preparation and painting of the window panels will continue.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as we make these important campus improvements.

To comply with the Internal Revenue Service's requirements to report qualifying tuition payments and other information on Form 1098-T, the College must send a written solicitation to students with missing or invalid SSNs/ITINs on an annual basis. In the upcoming weeks, students with missing or invalid SSNs/ITINs and potentially reportable transactions during the 2025 tax year will be emailed Form W9-S, Request for Student's Taxpayer Identification Number and Certification. Completed forms can be returned via mail, in person, or electronically via Self-Service. For your safety and the safety of the renovation workers on campus, please do not walk under or climb over caution tape and/or construction barriers to access sidewalks and buildings.

Alternate egress is available to all buildings throughout the renovations.

There are some campus infrastructure and modernization projects taking place on our Main Campus that have begun this week, and which will continue over the next few months. We will work to coordinate the building exterior projects so that there is the least amount of disruption to the College community as possible.

All work will be conducted with the safety of everyone considered first and within compliance of all regulations for the work being completed. The project includes roof replacement on five (5) building roofs - Buildings 3, 7, 11, 12, and 13; plus, ten gazebo roofs; and four (4) canopy roofs.

The removal of the existing stone fascia, abatement of asbestos containing materials, and replacement with a metal panel fascia will take place on buildings 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, and 11.

Additionally, approximately 500 existing blackout spandrel panels (window panel work) on Buildings 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, and 9 will be cleaned, resealed, and painted; miscellaneous minor repairs and painting of EIFS Fascia and Masonry Cleaning at Building 4; and preparing (sanding/grinding) for and painting of the four (4) canopies on campus.

A message such as "I John Doe, give permission to Jane Doe to pick up my order of 21270000026603" will suffice. That is the only way someone else can pickup on order an your behalf.

If you have raffle tickets that you haven't returned yet please bring them with you that day or if you prefer feel free to drop them off at my office, room 208G in the Campus Center.

Dear Students,

We want to reassure you that federal financial aid has not been impacted by the recent federal government shutdown. This means that all Federal Pell Grants, SEOG, and Direct Loans for the Fall 2025 semester were disbursed as scheduled beginning on September 30, 2025. Students receiving Veteran Education Benefits are also being certified without delay.

At this time, only state-funded programs are affected. The Pennsylvania State Grant Program and other programs administered by PHEAA are temporarily on hold until the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania passes its annual budget. Once that happens, awards will be processed and disbursed as soon as possible.

We understand that delays can cause concern, but please know that our Financial Aid Office is here to support you. A variety of regular breakfast, snack and lunch options are available at a reasonable price with individual items ranging in price from $1.00 to $7.00 with some salad bar items priced by weight.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and we're inviting everyone to show their support by wearing pink Thursday, October 16!
