Luzerne County Community College Nursing Students Give Back to the Community
The dedicated Nursing Students of Luzerne County Community College (LCCC) NUR-240 course have once again demonstrated their commitment to serving others by conducting a drive to collect essential items for Gift of Life Howie's House. This initiative is a testament to the caring spirit found within the LCCC community.*
From March to the end of April, the nursing students engaged their peers and faculty in a compassionate effort to gather items for families in need during organ transplantation. Gift of Life Howie's House provides vital support and temporary lodging for transplant patients and their families, allowing them to focus on what matters most during challenging times.
At LCCC, being a student goes beyond academics; it's about positively impacting the community. The nursing students understand the challenges faced by families traveling for medical care, and their drive embodies the mission of compassion and service that is central to their education.
"We are proud of our nursing students for their commitment to community service," said John Yudichak, LCCC President. "Their efforts not only benefit those who are facing difficult times but also enrich their own educational experience."
Gift of Life Howie's House is a nonprofit organization that serves as a home away from home for transplant patients and their families, offering affordable lodging and supportive services. By supporting the house, LCCC nursing students contribute to a mission aligning with their future health care careers.
The nursing students' drive is just one example of how LCCC fosters a culture of compassion and community involvement among its students. Their commitment to service is a reflection of their values and the high standards of care they will bring to their future professions.
